Species: Gloomlings
Gloomlings are a peculiar, shadow-dwelling species that live in the cracks between places - old stone walls, hollow tree stumps, forgotten wells, and anywhere the world feels a bit neglected. They aren’t malicious, but they are strange: big-eyed collectors of “lost things” and storytellers of secrets they overhear when no one thinks they’re listening. Each Gloomling is different, but together they share a deep bond with the twilight hours when day and night overlap.
Vilma’s Tale
Vilma is one of the younger Gloomlings, curious even by their standards. She’s fascinated by shiny scraps and odd human habits - she once watched someone tie their shoes for three hours, convinced it was some kind of ritual. Her prized possession is a bent bottle cap that she insists is a royal crown, though none of the others dare correct her. Unlike most Gloomlings, Vilma doesn’t just hide in the cracks - she wanders out, staring up at the sky with wide eyes, as if waiting for the stars to blink back.
